WELCOME:  You have reached Mr.Wetzel's page.  I teach U.S. History, Vietnam and contribute to the CAPSTONE Science course.  The U.S. history course is a survey course that begins with the study of the Spanish American War and concludes with the end of the Cold War 1990.   The Vietnam course is a blend of a traditional course and an on-line course.  Students are expected to complete various study units available on line.  This past year David Maraniss visited our school.  He spoke to our students about several of his books including They Marched into Sunlight.  One of the characters of the book was a local man named Tom Hinger.  This inspired Jessica Golden & I  to make this book required  reading  if they enroll in the course. The highlight of this course in my opinion is the amount of local Vietnam Veterans who are willing to share their experience.  The CAPSTONE course is an environmental science course designed to combine several disciplines.  I teach the local history component of this course.
